Volunteer & Peer Mentor Coordinator
Do you have passion for your work, a commitment to excellence and a desire to support some of the most vulnerable and excluded people in our communities? Could you support us to make positive lasting changes in people’s lives?
Providence Row works with more than a thousand homeless and vulnerably housed people a year in East London, offering an integrated service of crisis support, advice, recovery and learning and training programmes. Our aim is to ensure that people who are so often excluded from mainstream services gain the support and opportunities they need to create a safe, healthy and sustainable life away from the streets.
Central to our work are our core values of Compassion, Respect, Inclusiveness, Empowerment and Justice. These inform the content, style and delivery of all our services. Providence Row has a strong history of volunteering and volunteers play a key role in the provision of vital services to our clients, supporting all aspects of our work. We are also committed to engaging service users in development, delivery and evaluation of services. This includes co-production and peer mentoring in our learning programme; engagement of people with substance misuse issues in learning and training through our award winning Trainee Scheme and recruiting peer mentors to support and work with Reset – the substance misuse service for London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Peer mentors will motivate and encourage people to enter into and sustain treatment, participate in the Learning & Wellbeing Programme and re-engage in the community as part of their recovery.
Passionate about the power of volunteering, you have the track record to run successful volunteering initiatives that make lasting changes in people’s lives. You have experience of developing client-friendly volunteering procedures, induction and training within a complex needs setting. You are an excellent communicator and can create positive working relationships with a wide range of people and organisations. You are creative, innovative and well organised.
