The Manna is a daycentre for homeless and marginalised people in Islington, North London. We are recruiting for a Project Worker to focus on organising our daycentre and helping to facilitate our broader work.

The Manna is rooted in St Stephen’s, a local Anglican church. By providing a strong community to belong to we aim to improve quality of life and support people to make positive changes.

We offer traditional daycentre services three times a week, attended by well over 100 people. These open-access drop-in sessions act as a gateway into our one-to-one support and advocacy work and our activity groups (gardening, art, poetry, singing, walking, culture).

Our staff team of three work collectively and there is a high level of support within the team. We have over 40 volunteers to complement the paid staff at all levels and a supportive management committee.

To fit well within our existing team we are looking for someone whose strengths are in organisation and attention to detail, someone who can focus on day-to-day practicalities and keep the show on the road, especially when under pressure. Resilience and ability to relate to and motivate our users are vital but detailed casework is covered by others.

Working days must include Tuesday afternoon and evening, Wednesday morning and afternoon, and Friday morning. There is some flexibility beyond these times.

Appointment is subject to a satisfactory DBS check and references. We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from qualified applicants regardless of sex, race, religion, disability, or sexual orientation.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Kate Moore on 020 7226 5369 or kate@ststephenscanonbury.org.uk

To apply for the post, please send a letter telling us about your education and employment history, your relevant experience and why you feel you are suitable for the post, having read the Job Description and Person Specification. Please include the contact details of two referees, including your current or most recent employer; references will not be taken up unless we plan to offer you the post.

Your letter of application should be sent by email to vicar@ststephenscanonbury.org.uk or by post to Rev John Beauchamp, St Stephen’s Church, 17 Canonbury Road, London N1 2DF

The closing date is Friday 19 October 2018. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to observe a drop-in session on Tuesday 30 October 7 – 9 pm or Wednesday 31 October 1 – 3 pm. Interviews will be on the afternoon of Friday 2 November.
