Who is the project for?

Who do we help?

Direct applicants with low to medium support needs and with recourse to public funds.

Who we cannot help

Those with serious offences including Arson, Firearms offences, Murder, sexual offences, Offences against children, Intent to supply any substances, more than 1 conviction for possession of a bladed article. Don't provide services to those currently receiving drug replacement therapies.

Referral procedure

Download & complete application. Deliver in person, mail, or email completed applications to vickicooper@ymcatg.org. Once in receipt of application, YMCA-TG will contact the applicant directly to invite for interview. Key info includes - birth certificate, NI number, DBS permission and proof of income and/or benefits.

  • Maximum stay: 2 years

Support and accommodation

Support offered

6 support workers have a caseload of around 30 residents each. Each resident is assigned a support worker. Support is delivered through one to one structured support planning sessions every 4 weeks. Access to staff is available 24 hours a day. Support delivered is client centred and is focused towards the development of skills for sustainable independent living. Signposting for services to overcome mental health, substance misuse, debt management and other areas that impact the independence of young people. Advocacy is also a large part of the support delivered.

£144.43 pm for those receiving UC. All bills included in this charge.

  • Furnishings: Bed, desk, wardrobe and sink provided. Shared bathrooms. No cooking facilities.

  • Disabled facilities: Those with mobility difficulties can be considered based on circumstances and availability.
  • Other facilities: Use of gym, public café, outdoor and indoor sports courts (basketball, badminton, football etc).

Rules and policies

House rules and tenure

Licence agreement. No alcohol on site. Smoking is allowed in hostel rooms. The only required activities are engagement with support offer.


Visitors are permitted. All visitors into hostel rooms must be 18+. Overnight visitors must pay a small fee.
