Who is the project for?

Who do we help?

Vulnerable people with a range of support needs, including young single homeless people, people with mental health problems and physical disabilities and Asian women escaping domestic violence. Priority to those with a local connection. Certain schemes target percentage of minority groups in proportion to local population.

Who we cannot help

No automatic exclusions. Applications considered on a case by case basis based on scheme criteria, support needs and risk/needs assessment information.

How to get a referral

Referral agencies

Priority given to Supporting People teams and local authority contacts in Camden, Croydon, Kensington & Chelsea, Lewisham, Merton, Sutton and Wandsworth who are usually given 2 weeks to nominate applicants.

Referral procedure

Nominated agencies only, who are notified when vacancies arise and have 2 weeks to nominate applicants. Agencies complete application form. If vacancies remain unfilled, may then be offered to other agencies.

  • Maximum stay: 2 years/permanent

Support and accommodation

Support offered

Varies according to scheme. Some schemes have staff based on-site during office hours, others have visiting support. All residents have a formal support plan, reviewed quarterly or 6 monthly depending on support need. Needs and risk assessments, reviewed quarterly. Outcomes Star. Viridian Housing's Regeneration Department run various in-house courses including film making, DIY and IT courses.

£7-£10pw required from residents in receipt of benefits.

Facilities

  • Furnishings: Rooms fully furnished.

  • Disabled facilities: 15 units for physical disabilities, and 21 units for sickle cell, in purpose built specialist schemes. Aids and adaptations can be fitted as required.

Rules and policies

House rules and tenure

In most schemes no alcohol allowed on premises and smoking allowed in own rooms only. Assured tenancy, assured shorthold tenancy or licence agreement.

Visitors

May stay overnight. Restrictions apply in women's refuges.
