Who do we help?
Young single homeless people aged 16-24. Must have a 6 month local connection to LB Merton.
Who we cannot help
People with a history of violent crime. Those with severe drug or alcohol problems. People on conditional bail.

How to get a referral
Referral agencies
Vacancies are reserved for Merton Housing Advice for the first 48 hours of a vacancy arising, if vacancy is not filled accept self and referrals from any agency within Merton. 70% of referrals come from Merton HPU.
Referral procedure
Phone 24 hours. If applicant meets criteria and there is a vacancy, interview arranged, usually same day. If successful, move in immediately. Must have proof of ID eg passport. May require list of previous convictions.

Support offered
4 staff available Mon-Thurs 7am-12 midnight, Fri 7am-12.30am, Sat 8am-12.30am, Sun 8am-12 midnight, sleep-in cover. Keywork system, with compulsory weekly meetings. Action plans with agreed outcomes which are addressed in keywork sessions. Offer advice on benefits and housing, and can offer emotional support if required.
