Who is the project for?

Who do we help?

Single homeless people with support needs. Applicants must be willing to engage in the support on offer. Those with a local connection to South East Kent will be prioritised. 3 flats available for dog owners.

Who we cannot help

No automatic exclusions. Applications considered on a case by case basis.

How to get a referral

Referral agencies

Accept self referrals and referrals from any agency. Many referrals come from Dover District Council, Probation Service and Kent Council on Addiction.

Referral procedure

Application form. Interview. Require proof of ID and relevant background information from referring agency, where involved. Visit http://www.porchlight.org.uk /make-a-referral/ for more information and to download forms.

  • Minimum stay: 3 months
  • Maximum stay: 2 years

Support and accommodation

Support offered

6 support and resettlement Workers available Mon-Sun 8am-11pm. Keywork system (2 residents per key worker) with meetings held weekly or according to individual need. Action plans with agreed outcomes, reviewed monthly or quarterly. Staff offer support with independent living skills, health and wellbeing and liaison with specialist support agencies. Residents organise and run their own activities in line with the 10 hour engagement pathway. Residents run an allotment.

£12pw (tenancies), £7pw (licences) required from residents in receipt of benefits.

Rules and policies

House rules and tenure

Must engage with support. No alcohol in communal areas. Smoking in own room only. Assured shorthold tenancy, licence agreement in shared flats.

Visitors

2 per resident between 9.30am-10pm. No visitors under 16. Overnight guests by arrangement. Need ID.
