Who is the project for?

Who do we help?

Single young people aged 16-25 who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or vulnerably housed. No local connection required.

Who we cannot help

People with a history of serious violence or sexual crimes. People with an uncontrolled medical or mental health condition. People under the influence of alcohol, drugs or solvents at the time of referral.

How to get a referral

Referral agencies

Accept referrals from approx 10 named agencies, including Nottingham City Housing Aid and Emmanuel House (please contact Nightstop for details of the other trained referral agencies).

Referral procedure

Referrals accepted Mon-Fri 11am-5pm. Form completed whilst interview carried out by referral agency. Must be referred to Nottingham Nightstop initially as part of the assessment process.

Length of stay

  • Minimum stay: 3 months
  • Maximum stay: 12 months

Support and accommodation

Support offered

A Support Worker supports each young person on placement, in addition to the support provided by the host. Support sessions are given weekly and provide support around independent living skills, benefits, budgeting, finding education/work, referrals to additional support services where needed, help to find long term accommodation.

  • Other facilities: Access to the host family’s communal facilities during the placement.

Rules and policies

House rules and tenure

No alcohol allowed on the premises. Smoking outside only. Licence agreement.

Visitors

Daytime visitors are allowed as long as the young person has let the host know and only one at a time unless the host has agreed to let more visit at one time. No overnight guests.
