Who is the project for?
Who do we help?
Young single homeless people aged 16-25 with low to medium support needs. Must have a local connection to the Birmingham area, and a commitment towards engaging in employment, education, training and/or volunteering, and engaging with our support service.
Who we cannot help
Sex offenders or any young people with a recent history of violent offending. All applications and referrals are considered on a case by case basis.

No direct referrals. All referrals come to the scheme from Youthline/St Basils. Each young person is triaged by St Basils, who forward the referral to the scheme.

Length of stay
- Minimum stay: 3 months

Support and accommodation
Support offered
Holistic housing-related support package provided by Midland Heart staff to each young person, supporting each young person’s individual needs. Supporting young people to access relevant third-party support from specialist providers within the Birmingham area is also encouraged, wherever identified as necessary.
Rooms and charges
The personal charge for each young person changes each year, but is currently £13.07 weekly. Housing Benefit covers the remainder of the full weekly rental charge, which is currently £172.90. However, for those young people in work, the weekly rental charge you pay may be higher.

- Furnishings: Communal lounge, laundry and computer facilities. Each floor has a shared kitchen space for self-catering.

Rules and policies
House rules and tenure
Excluded License Agreement in place for all residents. Scheme rules, and systems for dealing with breaches, in place and enforced. All residents will have an allocated support worker and will be expected to engage with the support service on offer. No smoking on the premises (this includes vaping).
Visitors
All visitors must have current photo ID or three forms of written identification to gain entry. No ID, no entry. x2 visitors per resident at any one time, except for overnight visitors (x1 only). Visiting times are between 09:00-21:00 daily. Overnight visitors only allowed on either a Fri or Sat.
