Who is the project for?

Who do we help?

Homeless families, couples with children, pregnant women (must be 16 weeks plus). Accept same sex couples. Must have local connection (unless fleeing violence).

Who we cannot help

We operate an in depth risk assessment on all referrals. We do not have a blanket “exclusion policy”. We do of course have a duty to ensure the safety of all families and our staff.

How to get a referral

Referral agencies

No direct referrals. All referrals are from our Housing Options Service, we also take referrals from the Probation service and Hospital discharges and Leicester City Social Services dept. All these are in partnership with our HOS service.

Referral procedure

Phone or call in at Housing Options Centre Mon-Fri 9am-4.30pm After 4.30pm phone or call in at hostel directly: 33 Belgrave Boulevard, Leicester LE4 2JD, phone 0116 221 1407.

Length of stay

  • Minimum stay: 1 night
  • Maximum stay: 1 year

Support and accommodation

Support offered

11 full time staff, sleep-in cover. Keywork system (5 families per worker). Action plans with agreed outcomes, reviewed fortnightly. Staff provide support around benefits, life skills, education, training and employment. Family Support Team offers specialist service to families and children, including playschemes and creche.

Rooms and charges

£10.43pw (single), £20.44 (double), £30.45pw (triple) from residents receiving benefits. Additionally there is a HB charge, usually all of this will be met via HB department. However, for families not in receipt of full HB due to them working etc, they will be expected to make up the HB shortfall.

House rules and tenure

Smoking allowed in own rooms only. No alcohol allowed in communal areas. Licence agreement.


In communal areas and guest room only between 10am-7.30pm. No overnight guests.
