Who is the project for?

Who do we help?

Young single homeless people aged 16-25 with support needs around independent living. All applicants are required to either undertake some type of training programme or be in employment. Must have local connection to City of Newcastle.

Who we cannot help

No automatic exclusions. Applications considered on a case by case basis.

How to get a referral

Referral agencies

Accept self referrals and referrals from any agency. All referrals need to be made via Newcastle Gateway operated by Housing Advice Centre. Also from Social Services and local youth support agencies.

Length of stay

  • Minimum stay: 1 month
  • Maximum stay: 2 years

Support and accommodation

Support offered

24 full time staff, 24 hour waking cover. Keywork system (8 residents per key worker) with weekly meetings. Support plans with agreed outcomes reviewed quarterly. Staff offer support around independent living skills, accessing employment and training and liaising with specialist statutory and voluntary welfare agencies.

£10pw required from residents in receipt of benefits.

Rules and policies

House rules and tenure

Must attend keywork and residents' meetings. No alcohol allowed in communal areas. Smoking allowed in own rooms only. Licence agreement.

Visitors

Between 4pm-9pm Mon-Fri, 12 noon-9pm Sat-Sun. Overnight guests with staff permission.
