Who is the project for?
Who do we help?
People who have experienced disadvantage (whether worklessness, homelessness, substance misuse, criminal convictions, mental health challenges etc) who are motivated to participate in work experience with a view to gaining employment. No local connection needed.
Who we cannot help
People who have not been clean from drink/drugs for at least 1 month.

- Maximum age accepted: 60
How to get a referral
Accept self referrals and referrals from any agency.
Potential residents spend 2 days voluntary work with Friends First, followed by interview with risk and needs assessment.
Length of stay
- Minimum stay: 18 months
- Maximum stay: 2 years
Support and accommodation
Staff provide support during office hours Mon-Fri - this support includes work experience opportunities, skilled 1-1 support, therapeutic interventions, advocacy, multi-agency referrals, and links to local employers for those ready for a return to paid employment. Friends First also train volunteer mentors to support people in their own communities.

Rules and policies
House rules and tenure
No alcohol allowed on premises. Smoking allowed in own room and garden. Licence agreement.
Allowed in evenings and at weekends.
Hove train station - 7 minutes walk.
