Who do we help?
Single homeless people, including some ex-offenders and those with drug, alcohol or mental health problems. No local connection needed.
Who we cannot help
Schedule 1 offenders.

How to get a referral
Accept self referrals and referrals from any agency.
Phone after 9.30am to check if there will be a vacancy that night or call in from 7.15pm-11pm. Risk assessment. Staff help with filling in admissions forms and housing benefit claim.
Length of stay
- Minimum stay: 1 night
- Maximum stay: 28 nights plus
Support and accommodation
3 full time and 9 part time staff, resettlement and welfare officer and 10 - 20 volunteers. 2 staff and 1-2 volunteers provide evening cover and 2 staff sleep-in overnight. Provide advice and information on housing and benefits, budgeting, careers. Computer training and more to suit client needs.
Rooms and charges
£3 per night required from residents in receipt of benefits. £31.75 per night for those not in receipt of benefits.

Rules and policies
House rules and tenure
No alcohol allowed on the premises. Smoking allowed in covered garden area only. Licence agreement.
Between 9pm-10.30pm, and also 3.30pm-7pm on Sun. No overnight guests.
Shelter is within easy reach from town centre bus stops and Colchester Town station.
