Who is the project for?
Who do we help?
Anyone over the age of 16 who is threatened with being homeless or actually homeless can access City of York Council housing options for advice, assistance and/or a full homeless assessment . This may include placement in emergency accommodation pending full inquiries for applicants considered to be in one of the vulnerable categories. Some of the single person hostels accept a limited number of dogs at any one time. Some non hostel accommodation may allow dogs. City of York Council have a pets policy. Local connection criteria is considered in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act for homeless applications and for access to local resources.
Who we cannot help
Those who are not eligible for rehousing under the Housing Act.

How to get a referral
Self referrals and referral by any external agency.
Make an appointment by phoning or coming in to the centre between 8.30am and 5pm Monday to Friday. Applicants who are homeless on the day they attend must present before 3.30pm.

Support and accommodation
Advice and support given through the implementation of personalised housing plans and support plans. Staffing levels vary.

Must participate in programme of support. Smoking in own accommodation only. Licence/Non-Secure Tenancy agreement.
