Who is the project for?

Who do we help?

Single homeless people with a local connection to York. Applicants without a local connection can be supported whilst appropriate alternative accommodation is found. Can accept applicants with dogs.

Who we cannot help

No automatic exclusions. Applications considered on a case by case basis. "We aim to accept everybody in need of our service unless convinced that there are clear and compelling reasons to refuse them."

How to get a referral

Referral agencies

All referrals go through a Single Access Point (, phone 01904 554095.

Referral procedure

Phone daily 24 hours. Referrers will be directed to Salvation Army as first contact - 01904 416562. Salvation Army Early Intervention Team operate Mon-Fri. Pre-access interview (sometimes multi-agency) will be organised when a referral has been processed.

  • Minimum stay: 1 night
  • Maximum stay: 1 year

Support and accommodation

Support offered

15 full time and 3 part time staff, 10 volunteers, 24 hour waking cover. Key work system (10-11 residents per worker), daily meetings. Support plans, reviewed every 3 months. Support includes help with money management, independent living skills, social skills, developing self esteem and accessing training and/or employment opportunities. Support by signposting to external agencies for support with drug and alcohol issues, mental and physical health.
