Housing Strategies and Homelessness Strategies
Housing Strategies
The government's national housing strategy is Sustainable Communities: Homes for All
Regional Housing Strategies
All Regional Housing Bodies as they were then constituted were required to produce new Regional Housing Strategies by July 2005 and the ODPM (now the DCLG) produced guidance on roles and responsibilities, including those of the Housing Corporation. Links to each region's strategy are below:

Homelessness Strategies
The government's national homelessness strategy is Sustainable Communities: settled homes; changing lives, which states:
"We will encourage and support the development of regional homelessness groups, including the development of regional (and sub-regional) homelessness strategies and Supporting People strategies."
Regional and sub-regional Homelessness Strategies
Some regions have produced regional homelessness strategies, which Homeless Link supports.
In London, there is no regional homelessness strategy, although the Mayor has produced a Housing Advice Strategy, aimed at preventing homelessness.
The West London Housing Partnership, covering Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow and Kensington & Chelsea, is producing a sub-regional homelessness strategy.
In the North West, the Government Office is writing a regional homelessness strategy, which was a recommendation of its regional housing strategy.
There is no homelessness strategy for the South East nor one in progress. However, the Region's Housing Strategy reads:
"We would encourage all local authorities to have regard to ODPM's recent consultation on a National Homelessness Strategy, which seeks to promote a more detailed understanding of the issues and promotes joined up activity and resources allocations. There is potential to develop a regional homeless strategy expanding upon the recently published report on Homelessness in the South East Region available at www.raise-networks.org.uk." (page 27)
Raise is Regional Action and Involvement South East, a network of voluntary and community organisations who have a strategic role in the region. The report cited was published in February 2005.
In the West Midlands, the Regional Assembly commissioned a Regional Homelessness Strategy, which informed the West Midlands Regional Housing Strategy
In Yorkshire and the Humber there is not a regional homelessness strategy but there is a regional homelessness forum and other regional groups.
