Government launches strategy for Supporting People

Communities and Local Government today (21 June 2007) has published its new strategy document setting out how they will be taking forward the Supporting People programme.

The strategy outlines how Government will work with authorities, service providers and services users to ensure that Supporting People cotninues to develop. The four key themes of the strategy include:

  • keeping service users at the heart of the programme
  • enhancing partnership with the third sector
  • delivering in the new local government landscape
  • increasing efficiency and reducing bureaucracy.
  • reducing bureaucracy.

The strategy follows the national consultation carried out in 2005. Homeless Link responded to the consultation on behalf of the sector, and produced a briefing for MPs, stressing the importance of the programme in advance of the Comprehensive Spending Review.
