The Conservative Party has launched the Homelessness Foundation which will produce research into homelessness; its causes, effects and the wider impact on society.

David Cameron has launched the Conservative Party's Homelessness Foundation, expressing his pride at the lead his party was taking in tackling homelessness across the country.

He said that some of the best people in the homelessness sector had agreed to help with the foundation, and he declared that it was unacceptable for one of the richest and most developed nations to have people living in dire and degrading poverty.

The Leader of the Conservative Party said he wanted the fight against poverty at the heart of his mission, and aimed to give everyone from any background a chance to lift themselves up.

He criticised figures saying there were just 500 rough sleepers across the country, and pointed out that many thousands of people move from sofa to sofa with no stability in their lives.

Mr Cameron called for action on the causes of homelessness, which he stressed included family breakdown, personal debt, and the release of 12,000 prisoners every year with nowhere to go. And concluding he stressed that this massive problem could be solved in the fifth biggest economy in the world.
