Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland

The devolved Scottish parliament and Welsh Regional Assembly take responsibility for issues in Scotland and Wales respectively. They have decision-making powers, unlike English regional GOs, so policy is often different in Scotland, Wales and England.

The Northern Ireland Assembly and Executive have been suspended since 2002. The Northern Ireland Office, part of central UK government, has taken responsibility for policy and programmes.

Wales

The Welsh Assembly’s website on homelessness in Wales and on the voluntary sector in Wales give more detailed information.

Northern Ireland

The Northern Ireland office’s department for Social Development encompasses their work on housing and the voluntary sector in Northern Ireland .
