Places of Change in Yorkshire and the Humber
Homeless Link's regional workers are dedicated to promoting the "Places of Change" agenda. This means encouraging and helping hostels and other homelessness services to focus on helping homeless people, particulaly those with a history of rough sleeping, move forward with their lives. It is about improving the infrastructure and fabric of buildings, but also changing the way that services work with people; - providing opportunities for meaningful occupation and training and employment and involving people in running services.
Read more about Homeless Link's regional development work. Places of change, a series of articles in Connect Magazine, describes the work of Homeless Link's Regional workers.

Places of Change events
Providers from the region have been taking part in events and visits to services to hear about and view best practice in building design and service delivery.
Birmingham and Sheffield visits took place in the first half of 2006.
An expert practitioners meeting for architects took place in Liverpool in September 2006. This brought together architects and planners from across the north of England to discuss innovation and best practice. Follow this link to see the architects plans from other hostels currently in development.
