The Social Exclusion Unit have just published their report

A Sure Start to Later Life - Ending Inequalities for Older People.

The Coalition on Older Homelessness, based at Homeless Link fed into this report on the specific needs of the older homeless population. We are pleased to see that the needs of older homeless people are recognised in the report. In particular among the actions for goverment are promoting the guidelines to hospitals on the admission and discharge of homeless people and supporting the work developing intermediate care services for homeless people. The report also recognises that older homeless people need a range of suitable long term accommodation and that there need to be specific projects to meet their needs. The Coalition will continue to press for earmarked capital and revenue to meet those needs.

If you would like to find out more about the Coalition please contact Sarah Gorton, Project Co-ordinator, UK Coalition on Older Homelessness
