Coalition on Older Homelessness Project Update
The Coalition on older Homelessness is undertaking a review of it’s structure and will shortly be sending out a survey to agencies and individuals on the mailing list to request feedback on how to improve our operation.
Current projects are:
Auditing older homeless people
The COHP with partner agencies is working on developing a methodology to audit the numbers and support needs of the older homeless population in a given area, with work currently being carried out in Oxford and Lambeth Southwark and Lewisham
Audit of Older Homeless people in Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham
Working on the prevention agenda
Prevention is high on the government agenda for older people. The COHP would like to see more understanding of issues that can lead to homelessness evident on this agenda. If your area is one of the Partnership for Older People Project (POPP) Areas or one of the Link Age plus pilots it would be interesting to find out how they are incorporating the theme of housing and homelessness prevention into their project. The COHP is planning a paper on this issue. If you work in one of those areas and are interested in discussing how to put this on you local agenda please contact us.
The next meeting of the Coalition on Older Homelessness will be on June 13th and will be held in Birmingham at St Eugenes Court. If you are not on the mailing list of the Coalition and would like to be please e mail sarah.gorton@homelesslink.org.uk
