The Issues
The Places of Change agenda aims to encourage homelessness services, particularly hostels, to focus on moving service users forward, including improving their access to meaningful occupation and training and employment opportunities.
Making hostels "Places of Change" is one of the central aims of Homeless Link's regional development work, funded by the department for Communities and Local Government (CLG). Read Places of Change, a Connect article about the work of Homeless Link's regional managers.
Better by design and the Places of Change Programme
A key part of the Places of Change agenda is ensuring that the physical spaces used by services allow them to work in a positive way. This is the main focus of the CLG's Places of Change Programme (PCP), which succeeded the Hostels Capital Improvement Programme.
