Ending Homelessness

Ending Homelessness is about taking action in three areas: prevention, support and accommodation.

The following headlines for action set out to meet these three ambitions:

PREVENTION

1. A universal safety net to guarantee the fundamental right to accommodation
2. Prevent homelessness during transitions in people's lives
3. A national plan to halve the numbers of evictions 

SUPPORT

1. A national action plan to end rough sleeping by 2012 (now in place)
2. Invest in supported housing and develop services in areas where there are none
3. A national network of Places of Change
4. A PSA for social inclusion (now in place)

ACCOMMODATION

1. Add move on accommodation to the National Housing Programme
2. Invest in more affordable homes and create incentives to improve use of existing housing
3. Rent and benefit changes that will make work pay for homeless people
