Homeless Link is the national network for the homelessness sector. Our goal is to bring about an end to homelessness. Our Training and Events Programme is designed to promote effective work and good practice with homeless people, provide you and your staff with the necessary skills for the job, keep you informed of key policy developments, and increase communication across the homelessness sector. Homeless Link's Skills for the job courses take place at our training hubs in London, Manchester and Leeds, and are designed to offer essential frontline skills to those working with homeless people, as well as specialist courses for managers in the field. Most courses listed below, plus many more, are available as in-house and as tailored regional training.

Course spotlights
Difficult, disturbing & dangerous behaviour
14 February 2008, Manchester
This truly unique course features shocking dramatisations of real life situations, and is aimed at workers in any field who may encounter threatening behaviour in the workplace. Homeless Link is one of the few providers to offers this renowned course as part of an open programme at affordable rates. It narrates and dramatises a series of critical incidents, brining the material to life and allowing participants to consider the point of crisis and the skills necessary to achieve a successful resolution. This is an intensive and emotionally challenging course.
Cognitive behavioural therapy: principles & practice
18/19 & 25/25 February 2008, Leeds OR 18/19 & 25/26 March 2008, London
This course will examine the principles, formulation and basic behavioural skills involved in CBT. Upon completion, frontline workers should be able to use the principles and practices in their work, and management staff will be able to make decisions about how their work, and management staff will be able to adapt their service delivery to reflect this.
Train the trainer
5/6 February 2008, London
This course equips individuals with the confidence to spea publically and to prepare, plan and deliver a presentation, pitch or training day using a variety of visual aids. Among other topics, the course will cover the handling of group dynamics, how to set presentation objectives, and coping mechanisms for dealing with nerves.
Consortia
Consortium training is a new regional training model designed by Homeless Link with you specifically in mind. Through this model we can support you to get together with a group of agencies in your region and hold high quality, locally relevant Homeless Link training course(s) at just £70 per place (members only). Let's work together!
The next upcoming consortium will be ‘Engage and empower: raising clients’ confidence, motivation and communication skills’ and will be lead by Telford & Wrekin Council and take place in early February. Further details will be added as they become available.
