Working with clients from the new EU member states

Citizens from the so-called A8 member states are a growing client group for many services and present services with unique problems. This course provides an overview of the law regarding this group and considers the practical challenges for services in meeting the needs of these clients.

This course is available training through Homeless Link’s short course programme and can be delivered direct to your organisation as in-house training . Who is this course for?

Any workers encountering clients from the accession countries in their work; frontline workers and those responsible for developing services including support workers, advice workers, day centre workers and probation officers.

What does this course cover?

  • the law regarding access to public funds and services clients from the new EU member states
  • the cultural background of clients from these groups
  • good practice when working with an interpreter
  • development of services to meet of clients from the new EU member states
  • Rights and entitlements of Romanian and Bulgarian nationals
