Hostels as places of change
The regional team at Homeless Link has been supporting the delivery of the key messages of the Hostels Capital Improvement Programme (HCIP) of the Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG - formerly ODPM) - by holding meetings and "coach tours" to hostels that are examples of best practice. These pages cover the events themselves and the hostels featured.
The Events
The meetings are appropriate for anyone who is involved in the planning and delivery of improved services including: hostel managers, senior managers and planners, architects and strategic Local Authority representatives. They are also useful for potential funders and the Housing Corporation.

Earlier Events
The first meeting was held in Sheffield in January 2006 and a second in Birmingham in April 2006.
A meeting for architects in Liverpool in September 2006 explained the CLG vision, provided examples of innovation and best practice and networked together architects from three regions who are involved in delivering improved services by design.
