Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing is a series of techniques originally developed for the dependency field. However, there is much that is relevent and translatable to the homelessness field. It is useful for those clients who seem to be lacking the motivation and ability to make decisions in their lives. It challenges us, as service providers, through the suggestiong that we are often a part of the cause of this lack of motivation. It is an interventionalist technique that goes beyond Rogerian counselling but may prove useful in our clients' lives..
