Project Worker (Bermondsey Project), Thames Reach

The Bermondsey Project is made up of three sites, all offering a high level of support to single homeless people with a history of rough sleeping who have significant and enduring mental health issues.

Tenants occupy self-contained flats, with access to communal areas. This is an opportunity to join a highly skilled, creative and experienced team within a friendly, rewarding, and sometimes chaotic environment.

You will be highly motivated and capable of working on your own initiative, have a comprehensive understanding of mental health issues and/or homelessness.

You will have demonstrable experience of working creatively with vulnerable adults to achieve successful outcomes.

You will work across all three site within a team of twelve project workers and three managers. Staff work a rota of shifts including earlies, lates and flexis between 8.00am - 8.30pm weekdays and 10.00am - 6.00pm at weekends. There are also regular on-call duties for which extra payments will be received.

Housing Support Worker (Harrogate), Foundation Housing


Foundation Housing is pioneering a new Making Safe Project in Harrogate aimed at reducing domestic abuse by working with male perpetrators to maintain alternative supported accommodation to help prevent them returning to the family home.

Housing Support Worker (Making safe scheme)

Foundation Housing is recruiting a Housing Support Worker to work exclusively with male perpetrators of domestic violence referred from the National Probation Service, enrolling them in IDAP (Intensive Domestic Abuse Programme) and supporting them to sustain their own tenancies. This post requires a male worker and is covered by the Sex Discrimination Act (2)(ba) and (e).

Lifeskills and Participation Manager (Sheffield), Roundabout Ltd

LIFESKILLS AND PARTICIPATION MANAGER – 37 hours per week - Ref: LPM 8.08

Salary: £26,391 per annum (option to increase by approx £1,300 p.a. by participating in on-call rota).

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to manage our Life Skills and Participation Team. This is already a very successful team that has won national acclaim for its work in homeless young people’s participation. You will be responsible for co-ordinating and designing appropriate life skills programmes that will enable young homeless people to live independently in the community. You will need experience of life skills and participation work in a homelessness or related field and have a strong commitment to increasing young people’s participation within the organisation.

Stencil works across the city, assisting young people, including teenage parents, to access and sustain their own tenancy and to settle positively into the local community. Based in our Emergency Direct Access & High Support Accommodation Hostel. You will need substantial experience of direct work with young people, preferably in a residential setting, and an in depth knowledge of the issues affecting young people. The hostel is open and staffed 24 hours a day so there is a rota system in operation.

A10 Nationals Worker (London), The Manna Society


Part-Time Post (14 hours per week)

The Manna Society runs a large day centre in Southwark, just south of London Bridge Station. We require a part-time advice worker to work specifically with nationals from the A10 countries as over 30% of our centre users come from those states (based on centre survey – March 2008).

The worker will be required to assist A10 nationals in understanding the rights and responsibilities relating to them in the UK, assisting them in establishing themselves in the UK with an emphasis on preparing them for or assisting them in obtaining legal employment.

As the majority of Southwark’s A10 population is currently from Poland, the worker must be fluent in spoken and written Polish and preferably in Russian.

The post is part-time, 2 days a week, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., days to be agreed as the centre is open 7days a week. Annual leave entitlement is 25 days per annum pro-rata for part-time employees, plus Bank Holidays

We currently have two exciting vacancies for experienced Support Managers to manage the support service in our residential schemes in Lewisham, Southwark and Westminster.

Queen Mary’s and Chapter St. which is located in Victoria provides support for 78 vulnerable homeless women with mental health support needs.

Lewisham Supported Housing provides support for 29 single homeless people in 3 buildings in Brockley. This post holder will also cover Hilltops House which provides support for 18 older people with a history of homelessness in Southwark.

We are looking for applicants with management experience in the support field, a strong commitment to user involvement and an imaginative approach to management and support.

As a Suppor Support Manager you will:

  • Provide inspiration and leadership to a team of support workers
  • Ensure all service users receive high quality support to fulfill their potential
  • Manage our Supporting People contracts and be the first point of contact for the local authority
  • Play a lead role in tendering for new business

There are 400,000 ‘hidden’ homeless people in the UK today. Crisis believes that homelessness is a scandal in 21st century Britain. Do you?

Crisis is the national charity for single homeless people and we are now looking for new members for our Board of Trustees whose Chair is Sir David Bell.

Crisis campaigns to end homelessness and provides innovative, practical services to prevent people from becoming homeless and to help homeless people rebuild their lives.

We are currently looking for a number of new trustees and would particularly welcome applications from people with experience of homelessness and knowledge of housing and major regeneration projects. We would also like to augment the board’s finance skills and experience.

In the last five years we have extended our learning and skills expertise to engage homeless people, and help them find homes and jobs. Our plan now is to build on this by enhancing our Crisis Skylight centres in London and Newcastle and to open new centres in cities across the UK.

Housing Justice is a national voice for Christian action in the field of housing and homelessness, active through churches and projects around the country, with offices in central London. Our vision is a society where every person has access to a home that truly meets their needs.

Chair:

We are looking for someone to lead the Board of Trustees through a challenging period of transition. Can you assist in providing strategic direction and oversight to grow and develop both the work and the organisation? To undertake this role you will have strong leadership skills, think strategically; communicate effectively and be an excellent ambassador representing the organisation at the highest levels. You should have solid experience of the voluntary sector, ideally within the housing field. The role requires somebody who is a practising Christian with knowledge of the denominations and able to reflect theologically in the public arena.

Board Members:

Members are also needed to join our board to help shape future strategy and achieve our mission. We would like applicants from a variety of backgrounds including those with housing, policy, business, marketing, media, fundraising and campaigning skills. We would particularly welcome applicants from ethnic minority backgrounds and women who are currently underrepresented on our board.
